#59 My Make-up Storage!

I love seeing these kinds of Youtube videos, and while I know this is a BLOG not a Youtube channel, I thought I would do this post all the same! I don’t think I have a huge amount of make-up (especially compared to those I’ve seen!) but this is the way I keep my stash.

So, it all is kept in a Soap and Glory box that was part of a gift set that I received for my birthday. At the top left, I keep my MUA palettes. I have the Heaven and Earth, Undressed and Artiste Collection. In front of those is a purple basket (which I think are from Wilkos) with most of my everyday face products. I try to keep some order to this with cheek products and powders at the back, and foundations, mascaras, eyeliners etc towards the front. Obviously it never stays like this for too long!

At the back, I have a little jug type thing that my Nan gave me that I keep my make up brushes in. Most of my brushes are MUA, elf or Avon, however I really want to try some Real Techniques! I also pop my tweezers on the side of this too. Next to this is a little box that I keep more eyeshadow quads, or single shadows in along with some cotton buds. The two little bottles at the far right are elf brush cleaner and The Body Shop eye make up remover.

The second purple basket contains all of my lip products. Lip colours/stains/sticks on the left, and more moisturising balms on the right. And of course, my beloved Lush lip scrub belongs here and I reach for it everyday still.

#57 UPDATE: I’m sorry!

It seems to be a common occurrence that I am having to do Update posts, apologising for being a bit absent. But here I am!

If you follow me on Twitter (@BFLifexo), you will have seen me tweet endlessly about my ongoing essay and coursework deadlines that have been getting me down recently. Really getting me down. I have had no motivation to do anything other than uni work; I’ve stopped exercising and I have had a few diet blips. One such diet blip being a Domino’s pizza. Since then, I have snapped out of comfort eating and I am back on the healthy eating bandwagon. However, I haven’t got back into exercising and I have really disappointed myself with my lack of motivation. I should mention that even after these blips I thankfully only gained half a pound so there hasn’t been too much damage!

That being said, I am going home this weekend for the Easter vacation which means all of my uni work is finished for the time being. I will be back exercising in a few days, and I am determined to shift a few more pounds before my holiday at the end of March! And hopefully I will be able to post a bit more too, aswell as being more proactive in the #bbloggers chats on Twitter!

#54 Health and Fitness Update!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well, this post is going to be a little health update. So I last weighed myself last Thursday. I don’t know why I chose Thursday as my weigh in day but never mind! And last week I had lost another 1.6lb which puts my total weight loss so far (since the end of January) at 7.2lb! I have to say I really am so happy with my progress so far!

I told my Mum about my overall loss and she said “you’re not doing anything stupid like those crazy crash liquid diets are you?” which of course I haven’t been! All I have done is cut down on the bad stuff, eat more of the good stuff and reduce my portion sizes. On top of this I started the 30 Day Shred not so long ago too. At first it was hard, especially for someone like me who has never really exercised on a regular basis, but you do get in to it. Walking to uni everyday is another form of exercise for me too, especially as I live in quite a hilly area!

I have been stuck in bed for the past few days feeling fluey and horrible so I have missed a couple of days of exercise which I am gutted about. But, I am not forcing myself to exercise when I feel this rubbish, it won’t help! I have 2 more days left of level 1 then I am able to progress up to level 2.

I am so excited and pleased with everything I have achieved so far. I just hope it continues so I can feel confident when the boyfriend and I go on holiday at Easter!

#46 30 Facts About Me

Hey guys, I have seen the ‘# facts about me’ tag floating around a few blogs so I decided to do it for myself. I haven’t done a post like this before so I thought it would be a good opportunity for you guys to find out a bit more about me and get to know me better! :)

Here goes:

1. My full name is Jessica, but please call me Jess.

2. I am currently at university studying Biochemistry and Microbiology.

3. I am not a vegetarian but I love Quorn.

4. My favourite colours are pink and blue.

5. I am a massive dog lover.

6. But my parents won’t let us have one. (sad face)

7. I have a boyfriend, and we have been together over a year.

8. He is taking me away to Spain over Easter as my Christmas present.

9. Hence, I am starting the 30 Day Shred very soon.

#43 UPDATE: Long Time No Speak!

OH HI THERE!

I am back. It is 11.29am, and I finished my last exam at 10.30am exactly. All I can say is thank goodness for that! This has been one of the worst exam periods of my life. My first exam was on the 14th Jan and my last one was today (1st Feb), so it has been very widespread and I had 6 exams in total. Some of them I think went ok, others not so much but there is no point in thinking about it now! Onwards and upwards!

Now, lets talk about the weather. Lots of snow, I had to dig out my wellies and trawl through thick snow to get to my exams. It was quite relaxing walking through the park to get to my exams, it put me in a good mindset I think. I took a snap which is shown below, so beautiful!

Healthy eating update. I said in my New Years Resolutions post that I wanted to knuckle down with my diet and change my lifestyle. And so far so good, I weigh myself once a week (a Thursday morning) and this week I lost 4.2lb which I am super proud of! I started by changing my diet and now my exams have finished I will start incorporating exercise into my routine. My diet has completely changed and my whole outlook on food has changed. I no longer crave unhealthy foods, instead I just pick up an apple or an orange! Below is a photo of some of my healthy lunches and dinners I have been preparing. I love looking at health blogs or websites as they give me great meal inspiration.

Yesterday I ordered the ’30 Day Shred’ DVD after reading several reviews online, so I will be starting that in the coming weeks. I am thinking about writing about my experiences with the DVD on this blog, let me know if that is something you would be interested in!

I think that about covers it! Normal service will be resuming and I hope to be posting every other day (if all goes to plan!). I hope you have all had a good January (where has the month gone right?!) and that you enjoyed this post!

#41 My New Years Resolutions

2012 was a pretty decent year for me. I passed my first year of university and spent the summer working. It didn’t seem too much fun at the time (as where I was working is not related to my degree in anyway) but looking back now it was a good thing for me to do at the time and I did gain skills. I moved into my new student house with 4 amazing girls. Some of whom I didn’t know too well before, but I have developed great friendships with now.  I also joined a society in October, which has been really rewarding and I have met some new people through that too. And all through 2012 I had my lovely boyfriend at my side! We had some great weekends away exploring new cities in England but it was hard being away from him during the University vacations. Not to forget, this blog! I started this blog at the end of October and haven’t really looked back since!

I didn’t really make resolutions last year, so this year I am going to make an effort to make some changes in my life. On a personal level, I really want to start getting involved in more things, especially at uni. I made a commitment when I joined the society I am in and I am really going to keep up with it through attending all meetings etc. I also want to try and lead a more healthy and active lifestyle. I have started doing some yoga at home which has really helped with my stress levels at the moment which are through the roof due to my impending exams. When I get back up to uni I really want to start going running again too. Keeping with the health theme, I need to start drinking more water and less fizzy drinks. Eating less dairy is on my list too. These should help my skin too, which has been playing up a little recently. And obviously I need to cut out all unhealthy foods etc.

I also need to sort out my spending habits. They have got a bit better since the start of 2012. There was one point where I was making an ASOS order every two weeks. That is not healthy for my finances. Like I say I have got better since then. I think I am going to give myself the 100 day spending ban that a few bloggers are doing. Obviously you are allowed to buy some things like essentials, uni stuff and my boyfriend celebrates his birthday this month so I will be buying him a present. But I will not be purchasing any new beauty products, clothes, take-aways and stuff like that. This should also help me achieve another resolution of mine which is to use up more of the products I have before buying new ones. I have a couple of storage boxes FULL of products that I haven’t used and this needs to change!

I also really want 2013 to be a good year for me professionally. I have been looking for summer placements relevant to my degree for a while now but nothing has come of it. I have contacted over 20 companies so far and nothing. I am definitely not giving up yet and I know I won’t hear back from everyone so the search continues! I also really want to keep up with this blog and make it the best it can be.

Sorry for the long post but it feels good to have these things written down and published to everyone on the internet. Then I can look back and will motivate me to keep going as I don’t want to let anyone down! That may sound a bit silly but it makes sense to me!
