#58 MUA Artiste Collection Review

20 Mar

I purchased this palette during the MUA 50% off event (see my MUA haul here), and I have used it a fair few times since. You can buy MUA in Superdrug stores nationwide or online here.

The first thing I have to say about this products is that MUA have listened to their customers. The eyeshadows are named! It is only a little thing but it does make a big difference, well I think anyway. The palette includes 6 eyeshadows, which are of marbled effect. I really rate these eyeshadows, and the other MUA eyeshadows that are available. They are super pigmented and apply really well onto the eyelid. My favourite eye look with this palette is to apply Mocca to the eyelid and then add Cookie to the outer corner and through the crease, blending well. If you are looking for some great swatches of these eyeshadows then check this blog post by The Sunday Girl out, the swatches are great!

I’m afraid I didn’t really enjoy the four face products (2 blushes, 1 bronzer and a highlight) as much as the eyeshadows. They aren’t as pigmented as the eyeshadows which is a shame as the blusher shades would look great on someone with a paler skin tone. They might not be great if you have a darker skin tone, as the product may not show up. I found the blush shades quite hard to work with, but that may just be me! I like that they have included 1 shimmery blush and 1 matte shade though! The bronzer is ok, it isn’t brilliant but it does a decent job as a contour shade. The highlight shade is light and pearlescent and does look quite pretty.

Overall, I don’t really feel too strongly about this product. The eyeshadows are great, but the face products do let it down a bit. I would still recommend it for the eyeshadows alone at £6 though!

#55 My Five Product Face

22 Feb

I’ve seen a few of this kind of post dotting around the blogosphere so I decided to do it for myself. It was hard to choose just five but here is my five product face!

Five Product Face

Five Product Face

A good face product is essential so I chose the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream (£7.99 from Boots here) and I have the shade Light. I love this as it is really easy to apply and the coverage is light-medium which is the ideal for me, I hate feeling cakey. It is SPF30 too which is great! I find it lasts me for the best part of the day, and it isn’t drying either giving a fresh, dewy look.

Five Product Face

I then chose the MUA Pro Brow Kit (£3.50 from the MUA online store here or in Superdrug stores) which is great little product. The packaging is great considering the price, and it comes with mini tweezers and a mini double-ended angled brush. I tend to mix the two top colours for my brows.

Five Product Face

There had to be a mascara right?! I have chosen the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara (£10.99 from Boots here). I actually have the limited edition Diamantissme mascara which I got free in a little set which I spoke about here. I love the brush and bristles on this baby, and it gives great definition and volume to the lashes.

Five Product Face

For cheek product, I chose my new current favourite blusher which is a MUA Blush Perfection cream blusher in Blossom (£2 from the MUA store online here or in Superdrug stores). I actually did a full review (+ Swatches) of this shade and the shade Dolly here, so definitely check that out! It is easy to apply and gives a natural flush of colour to the cheeks.

Five Product Face

I suffer from really dry lips, especially during the cold winters and this product (along with the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub) has saved my lips! It is the Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil (£3.69 from Boots here) and it smells so so good. A tube of this lasts a really long time, it gives a subtle colour to the lips and is so hydrating.

So there we have it! I hope you enjoyed this post, have you done your five product face? Leave your links in a comment below, I would love to read them!!

#17 Brand Focus – e.l.f

22 Nov

Another brand focus today! Sorry for the lack of posts, I am currently looking for a house for the next academic year which is so stressful. I have looked at around 7 so far and they have been so disgustingly messy! Anyway, I diverge. I have known about e.l.f for quite a while now, however I didn’t place my first order until October this year. I really don’t know why I didn’t place an order earlier.

I always read about e.l.f products in beauty blogs, and most have good reviews. When I saw that they had a 50% off offer when you spent £50, I finally gave in and placed a massive order. Overall, I purchased 16 items which gave a total of £29 when delivery was added. Complete bargain.

I brought a mixture of items – brushes, make-up, brush cleaners etc :) First thing to say is their brushes are incredible. My top two are their Studio powder and stipple brushes. £3.75 each and such good quality, giving an even application. I also brought a few eye brushes which are also of a good quality, even though they are just from the standard range. My other top products from this haul are the mineral moisturising lip tints in rose and guava, they are so moisturising and have a great pigmentation.

e.l.f always have great offers on their site (free delivery, free gifts etc) which can be oh so tempting! They communicate really well via twitter and facebook too. Delivery was super fast, I have no complaints at all! Great products, great service and at a great price. If you haven’t purchased anything from e.l.f. before I would definitely recommend them as a company!
