#13 Brand Focus – She Said Beauty

14 Nov

I am a lover of social media. I may also love beauty products (I don’t know if you’re aware…). What do you get if you mix the two together? She Said Beauty. I had been thinking about creating a She Said Beauty profile for quite a while now but I never really got around to it. When She Said Beauty followed me on Twitter, they told me about linking my profile to my blog. It sounded like a great idea to me, so I went for it and joined!

When you join they ask you a few questions (skin type, hair type, favourite scents etc), I presume that these are used if you subscribe to their beauty box, so they can choose products tailored to you. Their She Said Beauty box is £9.00 (+ £2.95 P+P). I have been close to subscribing so many times in the past! (Hate being a poor student, It would be great to review on this blog though) The packaging looks really nice and feminine too.

Once you have completed your beauty profile, you can start customising your profile. I uploaded a photo, wrote a little bit about me, and changed my cover photo to one of their default images.

This is where the social media comes in. You can link in all of your different social media platforms to your profile. I have linked my blog and my twitter. My blog has been synced, so my new blog posts will also show on my She Said Beauty profile.

HOW COOL RIGHT? After I had finished customising my profile I started to like some of my favourite brands and products.

I had to restrain myself from spending hours going through products and liking them! As well as liking them, you can also review them. This is super handy;  if I was considering purchasing a new beauty product I could consult She Said Beauty and see whether it has been good for other people (especially handy if what you were lusting over was quite costly, nobody wants to spend £20 on a new product and it turns out to be rubbish!!)

Another thing I like about She Said Beauty is that they are really in touch with their users. They are always tweeting, and having conversations with users. They post links to articles and beauty debates too, so everyone can get involved. Everyone knows I love a good competition or freebie (just check my twitter page!) and they have those too! Can they do no wrong?

Overall, I think I may be in love. I love the concept of She Said Beauty, bringing together beauty and social media. It is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and join the beauty conversation! You can follow other peoples profiles, comment on new posts, and become a beauty community!

Fancy joining? GO FOR IT :) Join me and so many others. My username is BFLifexo (the same as my Twitter), you can find my profile here.

#11 Weekend Wishlist

11 Nov

Bonjourrrr, sorry for not posting yesterday. I was busy at Meadowhall doing some Christmas shopping, and brought myself a couple of treats too while I was there. Fingers crossed I will be able to do a blog post about them early next week (hopefully). This weekends wishlist is beauty themed. The list of beauty items I want is incredibly long, but I have narrowed it down to 5 items. I have tried to keep it quite varied too :)

Models Own Nail Polish in Thunder and Lightning, £5 – I have a thing for nail polishes, and this one is ticking all of the right boxes for me. It is a classic colour with a metallic sheen, with multicoloured glitter. I first saw this on the Models Own Swatched page (which is super handy) and it looked amazing. I tried to find it in Boots yesterday but they didn’t have it (super sad face). I may have to add this to my Christmas list, it would make a good stocking filler.

ELF Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Butter Pecan, £1.50 – ELF is a company that I have only recently found and I love them. I did a big order with them previously and ordered this in Sugar Cookie and was really impressed with the finish and pigmentation of it. The Butter Pecan shades are really autumnal and with them being browns they are wearable too. Did I mention the price? £1.50!!

Benefit They’re Real Mascara, £18.50 – I love my L’oreal Double Extension mascara but I think it may be coming to its end. I have read so many good reviews on this product, and costing £18.50 it needs to be good! I may treat myself to this using my Boots Advantage points after Christmas, and hopefully it will live up to the hype!

Soap and Glory Hand Food, £5 – Who doesn’t love Soap and Glory? and who doesn’t need another hand cream in their life?! I have had the mini size of this in the past and loved it. It smells amazing, leaves your hands feeling super soft and doesn’t come with a hefty price tag either.

L’occitane Ultra Rich Eye Balm, £24 – I have never used a L’occitane product before, but I have always read and heard good things. The one thing I hate about winter is how damaging it can be to my skin. It really dries it out, leaving it looking so dull. And recently I have noticed dry patches around my eyes and this looks like it should be able to help! It is quite costly at £24, but if it works I wouldn’t mind spending that much.

Have you used any of these products? Did you have a good or bad experience with them? Drop me a comment, tweet or email and get involved! You can find out my contact details here.

#6 Review – Soap and Glory The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser

4 Nov

Soap and Glory are a brand that I lusted over for a very long time. So when I popped to Meadowhall a month or so back and saw that Boots had 3 for 2 on S&G products I decided to give them a try. One of the products I picked up was this hot cloth cleanser. It retails for £10 for 100ml.

The first thing I have to mention about this product is the packaging. I am a sucker for nice packaging, and I love the retro and feminine look of the S&G brand. This product also comes with a free muslin cloth which is super handy. I have been using this cleanser almost every day. It claims to ‘melt away make-up’. It has definitely lived up to that for me, removing even foundation and mascara and leaving my skin super soft. I have been coming out in a few breakouts on my face recently and this has certainly helped to calm this down too. It contains some great natural ingredients, such as sweet almond, orange and lavender oils. These ingredients give it a lovely fresh scent, and my face feels so smooth after I have used it. You only need to use about a grape size worth, so it will hopefully last me quite a while too! All in all, I would definitely recommend this hot cloth cleanser, and S&G products in general!

#4 October Favourites

2 Nov

So yesterday was the 1st of november, I cannot believe that it is christmas next month! This year has gone so quickly, if I had blinked I would have missed it! So the end of a month means a new set of favourites.

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Rich Feeling Lotion – I absolutely adore this! I only picked this up because it was half price at Tesco, but my gosh, it smells incredible! I apply this daily after showering and makes my skin so soft and absorbs really well. I would definitely repurchase this.

ELF Mineral Mist – ELF held a massive sale a few weeks back and I got this on a whim. I had read such good things about the Caudalie Beauty Elixir that I decided to get this as a cheaper alternative. I apply a couple of sprays on the face after coming out of the shower and whenever I feel the need to freshen up during the day. Its full of natural goodness such as chamomile, aloe and vitamin B, and was a bargain at £6!

Soap and Glory Feel Good Factor – I use this every morning as a daily moisturiser, I was a long-term Simple fan, but saw this was on offer and I have been converted! I have a couple of S&G products and I love them all, and their packaging is so cute and retro. It also contains SPF 25 UVA/UVB protection which is always a bonus.

Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer – I picked this up at a student event at Meadowhall in september, and I have used it everyday since. I don’t know how I haven’t used a primer before, when applied it makes my face feel velvet smooth. It gives a perfect base and my foundation definitely stays on better with this. An all-round top buy.

Burt’s Bees Mango Nourishing Lip Balm – Winter for me means dry skin and chapped lips. It is the one thing I hate about the cold weather. Carmex Cherry has been my go to lip balm since I was in Year 10 but when I saw this lip balm on Feel Unique I had to buy it. And I am so glad I did. I also have the pomegranate lip balm and they are both amazing! They smell incredible and I always keep at least one in my bag at all times.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in Shimmering Sand – This highlighter is perfect for going out, it really emphasises the cheekbones and gives a lovely shimmer. It is just a tad too shimmery/glittery for daytime (I wore it to lectures once and my boyfriend said ‘why have you got glitter on your face?’), but for going out it is just right. There is another shade which is a lovely pale pink, which I tested in Boots, I think it would look gorgeous as a blush for more paler girls.

ELF Studio Stipple and Powder Brushes – What did I do without these? They are both such good quality and so soft, and only £3.75 each. I use the powder brush with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and it applies beautifully. I have used the stipple brush for both blush and bronzer and it works a treat. I have heard that the powder brush is also good for applying foundation but I haven’t tried that yet. Give me time :)

Hope you have enjoyed this post, I am really trying to post every day and get the blog off the ground and going properly. Spread the word and thank you for reading again :)
