#55 My Five Product Face

22 Feb

I’ve seen a few of this kind of post dotting around the blogosphere so I decided to do it for myself. It was hard to choose just five but here is my five product face!

Five Product Face

Five Product Face

A good face product is essential so I chose the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream (£7.99 from Boots here) and I have the shade Light. I love this as it is really easy to apply and the coverage is light-medium which is the ideal for me, I hate feeling cakey. It is SPF30 too which is great! I find it lasts me for the best part of the day, and it isn’t drying either giving a fresh, dewy look.

Five Product Face

I then chose the MUA Pro Brow Kit (£3.50 from the MUA online store here or in Superdrug stores) which is great little product. The packaging is great considering the price, and it comes with mini tweezers and a mini double-ended angled brush. I tend to mix the two top colours for my brows.

Five Product Face

There had to be a mascara right?! I have chosen the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara (£10.99 from Boots here). I actually have the limited edition Diamantissme mascara which I got free in a little set which I spoke about here. I love the brush and bristles on this baby, and it gives great definition and volume to the lashes.

Five Product Face

For cheek product, I chose my new current favourite blusher which is a MUA Blush Perfection cream blusher in Blossom (£2 from the MUA store online here or in Superdrug stores). I actually did a full review (+ Swatches) of this shade and the shade Dolly here, so definitely check that out! It is easy to apply and gives a natural flush of colour to the cheeks.

Five Product Face

I suffer from really dry lips, especially during the cold winters and this product (along with the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub) has saved my lips! It is the Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil (£3.69 from Boots here) and it smells so so good. A tube of this lasts a really long time, it gives a subtle colour to the lips and is so hydrating.

So there we have it! I hope you enjoyed this post, have you done your five product face? Leave your links in a comment below, I would love to read them!!

#54 Health and Fitness Update!

20 Feb

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well, this post is going to be a little health update. So I last weighed myself last Thursday. I don’t know why I chose Thursday as my weigh in day but never mind! And last week I had lost another 1.6lb which puts my total weight loss so far (since the end of January) at 7.2lb! I have to say I really am so happy with my progress so far!

I told my Mum about my overall loss and she said “you’re not doing anything stupid like those crazy crash liquid diets are you?” which of course I haven’t been! All I have done is cut down on the bad stuff, eat more of the good stuff and reduce my portion sizes. On top of this I started the 30 Day Shred not so long ago too. At first it was hard, especially for someone like me who has never really exercised on a regular basis, but you do get in to it. Walking to uni everyday is another form of exercise for me too, especially as I live in quite a hilly area!

I have been stuck in bed for the past few days feeling fluey and horrible so I have missed a couple of days of exercise which I am gutted about. But, I am not forcing myself to exercise when I feel this rubbish, it won’t help! I have 2 more days left of level 1 then I am able to progress up to level 2.

I am so excited and pleased with everything I have achieved so far. I just hope it continues so I can feel confident when the boyfriend and I go on holiday at Easter!

#53 Boots Haul

18 Feb

A week ago I did something a little bit naughty… yep this happened.

Boots Haul

I only intended to buy the Dr Jart BB Cream after being recommended it during the #bbloggers chat and it was even better as it had 1/3 off. But then I started having a good browse (as you do) and more things made their way into my basket. Next up was the Rimmel Lasting Finish polish in Pear Drop and Rimmel Pro colour polish in Aqua Cool, two really nice shades that will be great as we enter spring/summer. Rimmel is currently on 3 for 2, so I also picked up this Rimmel Scandal Eyes kohl liner in nude which I have been trying to get my paws on for quite a while. I couldn’t not look at my favourite brand, Soap and Glory right? Again 3 for 2 so I picked up the S&G Kick Ass Concealer, S&G Solar Powder and the S&G Archery brow pencil. And no guys it doesn’t stop there! I am running out of my night cream so I picked up this Vitamin E Night Cream, but it was 2 for £4… so…. I got the Vitamin E Eye Cream.

I just don’t know how this happened. But I am enjoying the products so hopefully I will be able to review some soon!

#51 Top Valentines Lip Products (+ Swatches)

14 Feb

With it being Feb 14th today, I thought I would do a date night inspiration type of post today, featuring 3 of my favourite lip products of late. They vary in colours and budgets too, so I hope there will be something for everyone.

Valentines Lips

Valentines Lips

From L -R:

| MUA Shade 16 – Nectar Lipstick, £1 | Rimmel – Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in Shade 22, £5.49 via Boots | Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lipgloss in Punchbowl, £9 via Boots |

Just a quick apology before I start. I really wanted to post photos of me wearing these lip products but my lips are so chapped and dry right now, that the photos would not do the products justice. Therefore I have stuck with swatches.

Firstly, MUA lipstick in Nectar. Wowza, for £1 this lipstick is full of pigmentation and coral goodness. Staying power isn’t perfect as you would expect from a £1 lipstick, but I would say it lasts for a couple of hours at least. For £1 you can’t complain. It is easy to apply, and is really moisturising. Up second is Rimmel – Kate Lasting Finish lipstick in shade 22. A classic red lip with a slight pink undertone, amazing pigmentation on this and it has a much greater staying power than the MUA lipstick. This product would be great if you were going for a simple make-up look but wanted to add a dash of vibrant colour to pull the whole look together. Super value for £5.49. And finally, a gloss for those who just don’t get along with lipstick, Sexy Mother Pucker in Punchbowl. A sheer but buildable pretty pink gloss from Soap and Glory, which gives you a tingly feeling when you apply leaving you with soft and plump lips. It does have quite a sticky consistency but it balances that with a great colour pay off and staying power, £9.

Happy Valentines everyone, I hope you all have a great day and that you enjoyed this post :)

#50 L’Oreal True Match Foundation Review

12 Feb

Back in December, I picked up the L’Oreal True Match foundation in Boots. Now, I had never used a L’Oreal foundation previously but I had heard good things so I gave it a go. The foundation claims to be super-blendable and match skin colour and texture.

L'Oreal True Match

L'Oreal True Match

L'Oreal True Match

L’Oreal True Match foundation, £10.29 in Boots (currently 2 for £15 on selected L’Oreal cosmetics!)

I purchased the shade D1WI Golden Ivory which is one of the lighter shades. I was really impressed with the wide variety of shades they have, it makes a change for a drugstore brand to have such a good range. It is a liquid foundation with a very fluid water-like consistency and it is indeed super-blendable. It does what it says on the tin, and I did notice how it evened out my skintone in places too. One pump is enough for me, and it applies so easily. It almost glides onto the face. I use my MUA F2 Stipple brush that I spoke about in my MUA Haul but it would work well with a standard foundation brush or even your fingers too. I would say it has a light to medium coverage which is what I look for in a foundation, I don’t like anything too heavy. But you could achieve a more fuller coverage look with this foundation by building it up without it looking cakey. I have super dry skin and it still worked well for me, it didn’t dry out my skin any further which is such a bonus. It lasted well in the winter weather too, I used my Rimmel Stay Matte powder on top to set it.

My final thoughts? I think this is a great foundation for anyone looking for a no fuss, flawless finish foundation on a budget. A true drugstore gem in my opinion.

#48 Daily Lust – Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

9 Feb

I love a good face mask. I have been using Soap and Glory’s No Clogs Allowed face mask which is incredible but unfortunately it is slowly coming to an end and I want to try something new this time around. Enter Lush and their Fresh Face masks. They have a wide variety of masks targeting different skin types and problems. For me, it would have to be the Catastrophe Cosmetic mask.

Fresh Face Mask

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask – £5.95/75g

Firstly, it is full of blueberries, one of my favourite foods ever as well as being great antioxidants. Secondly, because I have been having a bit of trouble with my skin recently and a deep cleansing mask of this would do it the world of good I’m sure. And as you would expect from Lush, it is full of natural ingredients that your skin will love. Have you tried any of Lush’s fresh face masks before? Leave a comment and let me know what you thought!

#47 MUA Pro Blush Perfection Cream Blusher Review (+ Swatches)

7 Feb

You may have seen my MUA Haul post not so long ago, showing the abundance of MUA products that I purchased during their 50% event. Well I have been using them since they arrived so I thought I would do a review of the Blush Perfection Cream Blushers that I received.

L – R: MUA Pro Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Blossom and Dolly, £2 each

I absolutely love these. They cost £2 each which is amazing. Blossom is a beautiful dark peach colour, whereas Dolly is a more vibrant coral colour which will be great in the warmer months. The pigmentation and colour pay off when applied has been great too. The cream blusher is very build-able  you could use it just to add a touch of colour to the cheeks or apply a few layers for a really strong look. I personally use an angled blush brush to apply these, but they work really well if you use the fingers too. For £2 the packaging isn’t too shabby either and it is quite sturdy.

There are 2 other shades available, and they are definitely worth checking out when you are next in Superdrug! You can also purchase these products direct from MUA online. Have you tried these before? What did you think? :)
