#53 Boots Haul

18 Feb

A week ago I did something a little bit naughty… yep this happened.

Boots Haul

I only intended to buy the Dr Jart BB Cream after being recommended it during the #bbloggers chat and it was even better as it had 1/3 off. But then I started having a good browse (as you do) and more things made their way into my basket. Next up was the Rimmel Lasting Finish polish in Pear Drop and Rimmel Pro colour polish in Aqua Cool, two really nice shades that will be great as we enter spring/summer. Rimmel is currently on 3 for 2, so I also picked up this Rimmel Scandal Eyes kohl liner in nude which I have been trying to get my paws on for quite a while. I couldn’t not look at my favourite brand, Soap and Glory right? Again 3 for 2 so I picked up the S&G Kick Ass Concealer, S&G Solar Powder and the S&G Archery brow pencil. And no guys it doesn’t stop there! I am running out of my night cream so I picked up this Vitamin E Night Cream, but it was 2 for £4… so…. I got the Vitamin E Eye Cream.

I just don’t know how this happened. But I am enjoying the products so hopefully I will be able to review some soon!

#48 Daily Lust – Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

9 Feb

I love a good face mask. I have been using Soap and Glory’s No Clogs Allowed face mask which is incredible but unfortunately it is slowly coming to an end and I want to try something new this time around. Enter Lush and their Fresh Face masks. They have a wide variety of masks targeting different skin types and problems. For me, it would have to be the Catastrophe Cosmetic mask.

Fresh Face Mask

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask – £5.95/75g

Firstly, it is full of blueberries, one of my favourite foods ever as well as being great antioxidants. Secondly, because I have been having a bit of trouble with my skin recently and a deep cleansing mask of this would do it the world of good I’m sure. And as you would expect from Lush, it is full of natural ingredients that your skin will love. Have you tried any of Lush’s fresh face masks before? Leave a comment and let me know what you thought!

#42 Lush Tea Tree Water Review

4 Jan

Not so long ago my boyfriend and I went to Cambridge for the weekend, and we had a stroll around the city centre and just happened to stumble into Lush. I have only purchased one product of theirs before (Bubblegum Lip Scrub, I did a full review of it here) so I decided to have a look around. I don’t currently own a toner and I thought my skincare routine needed one so that is what I was looking for. The lady who served me was so friendly and was really helpful as she discussed the differences between the different toner waters they had to offer.

I ended up buying the Tea Tree Water, 250g which is the bigger size. I was going to get a smaller size bottle just to give it a try but they didn’t have any in store so I just bit the bullet and purchased the full size.

I haven’t been using this toner for long but WOW my skin is looking so much better. I had been coming out with a lot more blemishes that I normally would have and this has helped to clear them. The tea tree is an antibacterial, antiseptic and antimicrobial ingredient so it works wonders for oily or spot prone skin. I personally have dry skin and I haven’t found that this product dries my skin out further. After using this toner water, I always moisturise due to me having dry skin.

I use this in the evening after using my Soap and Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser (full review here) and I apply it with a cotton pad or two. You can also just spritz directly onto your face and I sometimes do this in the morning to refresh the skin. This product is so quick and easy to apply so is good for those who are on the go. My skin is looking so much clearer and healthy looking, and like I said before the blemishes have cleared too.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product and I would also repurchase this item. I also love that Lush place stickers on the products saying who made the product and when it was made. It is such a great touch!

ps. I purchased this product before my spending ban that I mentioned in my New Years Resolutions post. Anything I review from now will be products I purchased before the new year or from my boxes full of products that I haven’t used yet :)

#24 Lavera Liposome Intensive Cream Review

6 Dec

Here is the first review of one of the samples I received in my Latest In Beauty little beauty box. If you haven’t heard about Latest In Beauty, definitely check out my blog post on them. The product I will be reviewing today is the Lavera Liposome Intensive cream.

Lavera Liposome Intensive Cream

Lavera Liposome Intensive Cream

I was given 5 1ml sachets to test out, and I have used them all up. I wanted to give this cream a fair chance before reviewing it, so I made sure to use all of it. At first I really didn’t like this cream. When I first applied it I think I used a bit too much, and my skin was left feeling sticky and greasy. I found I only needed to use half the sachet for each application. I wore the cream alone on my face one day, it was quite refreshing for my skin and it was definitely super hydrating.  As you all know, I suffer from really dry skin especially on my face and this really did help that.

I used this cream every morning and night. After trying it alone, I decided to apply my make-up on top of it. I was quite impressed with the results. With the stickiness I experienced when using it alone, I didn’t expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. I applied my Revlon primer and then foundation etc on top of the cream and it made my skin feel really soft and smooth. This smoothness lasted all day (even when I had been around town in the cold).

I liked the texture of this cream – it is quite mousse like. This makes it really easy to apply and blend into the skin. The smell is rather pleasant too, it is a floral scent. This is as expected as it does contain organic wild rose. I was surprised I liked the scent, because I am not usually a fan of rose.

I think it is more of a night cream than a day moisturiser – but it worked well as both for me! It is quite rich, so if you don’t suffer from dry skin then I wouldn’t recommend it as a day cream. Overall, I think I would repurchase this cream. It really did help with my dry skin, which is my personal skin problem.

You can purchase it for £13.90 (30ml) here.

Does anyone else suffer from dry skin like me? What are your miracle products? Let me know – leave a comment below! :)

#22 Brand Focus – Latest In Beauty

4 Dec

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of posts over the past couple of days, something awful has happened at my house. WE HAVE LOST INTERNET. It really has come at the worst time as everyone is stressing over deadlines and essays etc, so we are all hiding out at the various libraries until we can get it fixed! We have rang our service provider, so hopefully we will have our broadband back very soon. It is so weird being without it, how did people cope before?! So I am currently posting from a University computer until further notice. Sorry if posts aren’t up to scratch, I’m trying hard but I won’t have all the same software that I have at home. Please bear with me!

Today’s post is a brand focus – Latest in Beauty. I found out about this site not so long ago. I saw their beauty advent calendar that they have put together in collaboration with YOU magazine. I have to say that this calendar is incredible. Behind every door is a beauty product, featuring some great brands such as Benefit and L’occitane. It is great value too, it retails at £59.95 (+ £2.95 P+p) but is worth £210. If I had the funds it would definitely be mine and I would review each product for you, it looks amazing. After having a look at their advent calendar and checking out the rest of their site I decided to sign up. When you sign up, you are asked a few questions about your skin/make up/hair needs.

Latest in Beauty is a website where are able to purchase samples (some are full size) at a good price. This is a great idea, I love the whole ‘try before you buy’ concept. I love using samples as I am able to try products and seeing what I think of it before I have to part with my money. This is especially true when the product in question is high end and expensive. They also offer something they call their ‘Little Beauty Box’. You are able to order 3 samples to try. The samples offered to you are products that correspond with the answers to the questions you answered when you first signed up. I think this is great as the products are personal to your needs. For example, I have really dry skin (especially in the winter) and one of the products that came up for me was a moisturiser for dry skin. I ordered my little beauty box and it came within a couple of days. They have a fast delivery and great customer service, this is something I always look for in a company.

The products I recieved are:

1. Tresemme Split Remedy Trio

“There’s nothing like freshly-cut hair to add a spring to your step, but over time split ends can make your hair look frizzy and dull. Introducing Tresemmé Split Remedy. The revolutionary Reconstructing Complex repairs up to 80% of the splits you have in just three uses – try Split Remedy shampoo and conditioner together or any other product in the line – and with regular use keeps working to help prevent new split ends from occurring and visibly maintain repair. So you can now retain the look & feel of a salon fresh-cut for longer. Sample includes 3 x 10ml sachets of Split Mend Shampoo, Split Mend Conditioner and Split Mend and Protect Leave In Treatment.”

2. Lavera Organic Wild Rose Moisturising Cream

“Lavera Faces Organic Wild Rose Moisturising Cream is full of moisture-rich organic plant-derived fluids from organic grapes, organic peaches, and organic apricots along with moisture boosting hyaluronic acid and soya liposomes. When the liposomes touch skin cells they burst open with moisture-rich ingredients to provide your skin with long lasting moisture. Lavera Faces Wild Rose Moisturising Cream leaves skin feeling wonderfully smooth.”

3. Japonesque Beauty Fixation Cuticle Conditioner

“24 pre-filled cuticle oil conditioner swabs.”

There wasn’t any more description that that for product 3 I’m afraid! :) I am using these products at the moment, so hopefully there will be a full review of each product up soon! But I just wanted to let everyone know about this great site, and what it offers!

Fingers crossed my internet will be back up and running soon!

#19 Daily Lust – Benefit Gift Sets

27 Nov

I love Christmas shopping, especially for beauty items. When all of the gorgeous gift sets come out and Boots start their 3 for 2 offer, I find it so hard to not treat myself! Christmas gifts sets are the perfect opportunity to test products as they sometimes come in sample sizes. The packaging is always beautiful too. A brand that I am constantly lusting over is Benefit. I have used a couple of their products when the samples came with Glamour a few months back, and adored them. After browsing their website tonight, I just had to do a blog post about them. Here are a few of my favourites.

Benefit Upgrade to Gorgeous! – £35

Benefit Let There Be Bright! – £39

Feelin’ Dandy – £24.50

How to Look the Best at Everything – £24.50

How amaaaazing are these, the packaging is fab! (we would expect nothing less from Benefit).  Another thing I like about these is that they come with a little instruction booklet, full of tips to get the most out of the products. This could be really helpful if you were giving this to someone who  is new to make-up, or is just starting their collection. These kits are such good value for money, especially as you are able to try so many different products.

I am lusting over every single one of these, they are definitely going on my birthday/christmas list.
